Smart Sipper
Thermo Scientific Evolution 200 Series User Guide 415
If the flow cell tubing does not fit over the connector, attach a short piece of extra
pump tubing to the connector and insert the flow cell tubing into the sleeve. If the
connection is too loose, use a clamp or add another sleeve of narrower tubing to
ensure a tight fit.
2. Cut an appropriate length of PTFE or FEP tubing to reach from the Flow Cell In port
through the Sipper front panel to the sample container.
Depending on the depth of your sample container, leave at least 5 cm of tubing
protruding from the guide.
3. Feed one end of the tubing all the way through the metal guide in the Sipper front panel.
4. Connect the loose end to the Flow Cell In port.
If the tubing does not fit over the Flow Cell In connector, make a sleeve with extra tubing
as described above.
For a screw-cap flow cell, use flanged tubing and another screw cap, O-ring and washer to
connect the tubing to the Flow Cell In port.
5. Position the flow cell with the In port on the right, and place it in the cell holder on the
Smart Sipper.
6. Connect an appropriate length of tubing to the Pump Out port, and route it through one
of the slits in the Sipper front panel to your waste container.
7. Calibrate the sipper configuration. See Calibration.
8. Set the parameters to operate the Sipper manually or configure workflows for
autosampling with the Sipper. See Operation.
