2.2.4 OIL SWITCH
The oil switch is installed on the cylinder block and is
connected to the engine oil's passage. When the oil pres-
sure falls below the specifi ed value, the contacts of the oil
switch close to turn on the warning lamp (1).
(A) At low oil pressure
(49 kPa (0.5 kgf/cm

, 7 psi) or less)
(B) At proper oil pressure
2.2.3 OIL FILTER AND RELIEF VALVE
The engine oil force-fed by the pump is fi ltered by the fi lter
cartridge, passing through the fi lter element from outside to
the inside.
When the fi lter element accumulates dirt and the pressure
difference between the inside and outside rises 98 kPa (1.0
kgf/cm
2
, 14 psi) or higher, the bypass valve (1) opens to
allow the oil to fl ow from the inlet line to outlet line, bypass-
ing the fi lter element.
The relief valve (4) in the inlet line allows oil to prevent
damage to the lubricating system, when the oil pressure
rises more than 441 kPa (4.5 kgf/cm
2
, 64 psi).
