3.3.5 LUBRICATING SYSTEM
A. CHECKING
► ENGINE OIL PRESSURE
1. Remove the oil pressure switch. Then, install the pres-
sure tester and adapter.
2. Start the engine and run it until it warms up. Measure
the oil pressure both at idling and rated speeds.
3. If the oil pressure is less than the allowable limit, check
the oil level, oil fi lter, oil pump relief valve, oil passage,
and oil clearance.

► OIL FILTER AND RELIEF VALVE
1. Drain the engine oil and remove the oil fi lter to check it.
2. Check the condition of the relief valve, the seat (2) and
ball (1) for damage.
3. If damaged, replace them.
4. Check the free length of the spring (3).
5. If the measurement is less than the allowable limit, re-
place the spring.
• Install the relief valve cover with its ▲ mark up.
