3.3.6 COOLING SYSTEM
A. CHECKING AND ADJUSTING
► FAN BELT
1. Measure the defl ection by depressing the belt halfway
between the fan drive pulley and alternator pulley at 10
kgf of force.
2. If the defl ection is not within the factory specifi cation,
loosen the bolts and nuts and move the alternator to
adjust the defl ection.
3. If the belt is damaged or worn, replace it (see fi gure).
► RADIATOR WATER TIGHTNESS
1. Fill the radiator with water to the specified level and
warm up the engine.
2. Set a radiator tester and raise the water pressure to the
specifi ed pressure.
3. Check the radiator for water leaks.
4. If water leaks from the pin hole, repair it with radiator
cement. If water leaks from other parts, replace the ra-
diator.
► RADIATOR CAP TIGHTNESS
1. Attach a radiator tester on the radiator cap.
2. Apply 0.9 kgf/cm
2
of pressure and measure the pres-
sure for 10 seconds.
3. If the pressure falls below 0.6 kgf/cm
2
, replace the ra-
diator cap.
