Ventilating Children Chapter 7 - Ventilation

Ending Auxiliary CGO Ventilation
1. Press any ventilation mode key, other than
>Aux CGO<. The LED of the selected ventilation
mode key and the status field flash on and off.
2. Press the confirm knob. The ventilation is
switched to the Apollo internal rebreathing
system.
Note: When changing back to the Apollo
rebreathing system, reconnect the sample
line to the Y-piece.
Ventilating Children
Follow the instructions below for tidal volumes (VT) of
less than 200 mL.
1. Attach a 0.5 L breathing bag to the breathing bag
arm.
2. Connect low compliance Pediatric or Neonatal
breathing hoses to the breathing system and the
Y-piece.
3. Connect the sample line to the Y-piece and to the
water trap on the front of the machine.
4. Perform a leak test as specified “Perform the
Leak Test” on page 79 of this manual.
WARNING !
Use pediatric hoses.
WARNING !
Microbial filters should not be used on the
inspiratory and expiratory ports, because this
increases system compliance.
