Displaying and Setting Alarm Limits Chapter 9 - Alarms
Apollo Operator’s Manual 143
Part Number: 90 38 237, 6th edition
Auto-Set of Alarm Limits
Figure 110. Auto-Set Alarm LimitsThe auto-set function automatically sets minute
volume (M
V) and airway pressure (PAW) alarm limits
based on current parameters. The function is
available in volume, pressure, and optional pressure-
support mode when there are measured values for
pressure and volume.
To auto-set M
V and PAW alarm limits:
Press the >Auto-set Limits< soft key (1 in
Figure 110).
The alarm limits menu opens automatically.
The M
V and PAW limits are modified and
appear highlighted on an orange background.
The new alarm limits for MV are calculated from the
measured value for the minute volume (MV) in
volume, pressure, and optional pressure-support
mode, as shown below:
The displayed value may differ marginally due to
rounding errors, since the values are calculated
internally with much greater accuracy.
The new alarm limits for P
AW are calculated on the
basis of the mean values for PEAK, PLAT, and PEEP
over the last four ventilation strokes. Spontaneous
breaths by the patient and triggered pressure support
strokes are not taken into account.
