Perform the Leak Test
Note: The leak test should be performed each time
the absorbent, breathing hoses, patient
filters, or water trap have been changed, or
when a vaporizer has been changed or filled.

1. Set the handwheel of the vaporizer being tested
to a concentration of at least 0.2 Vol.%.
2. Press the >Leak Test< key on the Standby
screen (1 in Figure 56).
3. The following prompt is displayed:
“Before starting leak test, close the Y-piece,
connect the sample line and make sure that
all flow controls are closed. If vaporizer leaks
need to be tested, open respective vaporizer
to at least 0.2 Vol.%. Press confirm knob to
start the leak test.”
Perform the actions as instructed.
The leakage test for volume mode/pressure
mode takes approximately 90 seconds. System
compliance is then determined for volume
correction and the overall system is checked for
leaks in the breathing system. The breathing bag
and hose are also checked. Leakage is tested in
the mechanical branch and in the overall system.

4. When the results of the test are posted, press the
>Exit< key (1 in Figure 57) to return to the
Standby screen.
5. Turn the handwheel of the vaporizer being tested
to the “0” position.
6. Repeat leak test for each additional installed
vaporizer, if present.
WARNING !
Do not perform the leak test with a patient
connected to the workstation.
