Leak Tests
Figure 50. Mechanical Ventilation Leak TestThe Apollo tests for leaks in the mechanical
subsystem and in the Man/Spont system.
Figure 50 shows the components tested in the
mechanical ventilation branch. This branch is tested
with positive pressure. Leaks are indicated on the
Self Test Results screen by the red/yellow/green
indicator and by posting the leak value in mL/min
(Leak (system) test result in Figure 48).
Figure 51 shows the components tested in the Man/
Spont leak test. This test is performed with sub-
atmospheric pressure. Leaks are indicated on the
Self Test Results screen by the red/yellow/green
indicator and by posting the leak value if it’s over
150 mL/min (Leak (Man/Spont) result in Figure 48).
The Apollo determines the current leakage of the
breathing system and breathing hoses. The system
tolerates leakage of up to 150 mL/min.
For leaks of more than 150 mL/min:
check the components of the breathing
system, repair any leaks, and repeat the leak
test.
Note: Carry out leak test after changing breathing
hoses, vaporizers or soda lime.

not cracked or broken.
Ensure that the bag arm connection to the
breathing system is secured tightly and not
leaking.
Verify that the gas sampling line connections
are tight and free of cracks or damage.
Verify that the vaporizer fill and drain ports are
tight and closed and that the vaporizers are
properly secured to the vaporizer mount.
