Alarm Priorities
Apollo alarms are organized into three categories
based on urgency:

Alarms are indicated to the user in three ways:
• a color-coded alarm message is displayed in
the status field on the screen (1 in Figure 100)
• the LED alarm indicator lights up (2 in Figure
100)
• an acoustic tone is annunciated (see below)
If alarm limits are violated, the corresponding
measured values on the screen will be highlighted on
a colored background (3 in Figure 100) and will flash
on and off. The colored background will reflect the
color-coding of the alarm priority (red, yellow, white).
The specific way each alarm type is indicated is as
follows:

Warning:
(red alarm field)
highest priority alarm, requiring
immediate response
Caution:
(yellow alarm field)
medium priority alarm, requiring
prompt action
Advisory:
(white alarm field)
low priority alarm/message that
must be noted and action taken if
necessary

Warning: - Warning messages flash on and off on a
red background in the status field
- red LED alarm indicator flashes on and
off
- a continuous tone sequence sounds
Caution: - Caution messages flash on and off on a
yellow background in the status field
- yellow LED alarm indicator flashes on
and off
- an intermittent tone sounds every 30
seconds
Advisory: - Advisory messages appear on a white
background in the status field
- yellow LED alarm indicator lights
continuously
- a single tone sounds (some lower priority
advisories have no acoustic tone)
