Chapter 7 - Ventilation Manual/Spontaneous Ventilation
86 Apollo Operator’s Manual
Part Number: 90 38 237, 6th edition
Manual/Spontaneous Ventilation
Figure 61. APL Valve - Spontaneous Mode Setting To use the manual/spontaneous ventilation mode,
the user must first set the APL valve to the
appropriate mode and then select the mode using
the >Man Spont< key on the front display panel.
Setting the APL Valve
For manual ventilation:
Turn the APL valve adjustment knob to the
desired pressure. Clockwise rotation increases
the pressure, and counterclockwise rotation
decreases the pressure.
The patient can be ventilated by hand using the
breathing bag. The pressure will be limited to the
value set on the APL valve.
To temporarily relieve pressure:
Pull up on the APL valve knob
For spontaneous breathing:
Rotate the APL valve adjustment knob fully
counterclockwise, until the index mark on the
knob lines up with the index mark on the
bottom of the valve (1 in Figure 61).
The valve is now open for spontaneous patient
breathing.
