Creating a Storage Space on a Remote Server
1. Open HBS 3.
2. Go to Storage Spaces.
3. Click Create.
The storage space type window opens.
4. Select a remote server.
The Create a Storage Space window opens.
5. Configure the storage space settings.
Setting Description
Name The name used to identify the storage space
IP address / Host name The IP address or host name used to access the
storage space
Tip
With CIFS/SMB Servers, click to scan
for available devices.
Port The port number used to access the storage space
This value must be between 1 - 65535.
Username The username used to access the remote server
Password The password used to access the storage space
Rsync Server Settings
Use encryption port The encryption port used to access the storage
space
This value must be between 1 - 65535.
Server Type Specifies the type of server
Account Type Specifies the type of account
Use remote NAS user accounts Allows the storage space to use a remote QTS user
account when accessing a QNAP NAS rsync server
Important
The remote QNAP rsync server must
also enable Use local NAS user
accounts.
FTP Server Settings
FTP with SSL/TLS (Explicit) Uses an SSL/TLS connection to access the storage
space
