6 Install the sample tray, with the fused silica standard in the center
hole, into the instrument according to
“Install the Sample Tray into
the Indenter" on page 1-18.
7 Set up a batch of samples for CSM testing:
a Select Batch Mode from the Mode menu.
b Follow the instructions for “First Batch Test" on page 1-27 in
Chapter 2, "Quick Start Guide" using the fused silica in the center
of the sample tray. Follow the procedure exactly as written. In the
Required Inputs section, set Maximum Load input to 100 and
click Next Step.
c Click the Review tab to reveal the test results.
d Right-click in the Legend pane and select Select All Tests.
e Right-click on the graph and select Y-Axis Channel >
Modulus
(GPa), as shown in Figure C-3 on page C-4.
NOTE
The high-load mechanism automatically engages when the test
prescribes a force that is greater than what can be achieved by the
normal electromagnetic mechanism (50 gf).
