Critical Load
The load at which fracture initiated (designated by the marker C).
Penetration Depth At Critical Load
The penetration depth at which fracture occurred.
Scratch Width
The width of the scratch as measured by the cross profile and calculated
as the distance between the positions indicated by markers O and P.
Total Height Of the Groove
The height of the scratch as measured by the cross profile and calculated
as the vertical distance between the bottom of the groove (indicated by
marker G) and the highest point of pile up calculated as the average
height for markers O and P.
Residual Scratch Depth
The height of the scratch relative to the original height of the sample
surface and calculated as the vertical distance between the bottom of the
groove (indicated by marker G) and the average height for markers 1
and 2.
Pile Up Height
The height of the pile up caused by the scratch as measured by the cross
profile and calculated as the vertical distance between the average
height for markers 1 and 2 and the average height for markers O and P.
