C. CONNECTING ROD AND PISTON
► PISTON PIN BORE
1. Measure the I.D. of the piston pin bore in the piston
(lengthwise and widthwise of the piston) with a cylinder
gauge.
2. If the measurement exceeds the allowable limit, replace
the piston.
► PISTON PIN AND BUSHING CLEARANCE
1. Measure the piston pin O.D. with an outside microm-
eter.
2. Measure the piston pin bushing I.D. with an inside mi-
crometer.
3. If the clearance exceeds the allowable limit, replace the
bushing.
4. If the clearance still exceeds the allowable limit after
replacing the bushing, replace the piston pin.
► REPLACING CONNECTING ROD SMALL END
BUSHING
1. Press out the bushing using a connecting rod small end
bushing replacing tool.
2. Clean the new bushing and bore. And apply oil to them.
3. Press in the bushing using the replacing tool.
• Align the oil holes of the connecting rod and bushing.
