d. Check the interlock mechanism. Turn the
handwheel on one vaporizer to a position
other than “0”, and ensure that the other
vaporizer remains locked in its “0” position.
Repeat test for second vaporizer.
e. Turn both handwheels to “0” positions.
Note: For three-vaporizer mounts, perform
this test for all three vaporizers.
9. Check the breathing system:
a. Make sure patient hoses are securely
connected, with optional filters inserted.
b. Ensure there is fresh carbon dioxide
absorbent in the canister, without
discoloration.

procedure, the date and time can be logged
by pressing the >Absorb. changed< key on
the check list screen (1 in Figure 42). The
label of the key then changes to >Undo
Change<, and can be pushed again to undo
the absorbent change information. The
absorbent change information will be logged
in the system when the automatic test is
started.
Note: Drain any water that may have collected in
the ventilator diaphragm during use (see
page 165 for diaphragm location and
disassembly instructions).

WARNING !
Correct operation of the workstation may be
impaired by condensation flowing back into the
breathing system and ventilator diaphragm. To
help prevent condensation, install water traps in
patient hoses.
