ICON PARACHUTE SYSTEM (IPS) / IPS DESCRIPTION 19-3
CHANGE C1 ICON A5 / MAINTENANCE MANUAL
CHAPTER 19
19.1 IPS Description
The ICON Parachute System (IPS) is comprised of the parachute package, harness, extraction rocket,
activation system, landing gear deployment mechanism and all associated brackets and hardware. The
parachute is a non-steerable round parachute used in conjunction with a three-point harness assembly
to safely descend the planes occupants in an emergency. The parachute is triggered using the
mechanical cockpit activation system and fired via a solid fuel cell extraction rocket from the parachute
bay. When the activation system handle is pulled, the landing gear deployment mechanism will put the
landing gear into the ‘down’ position.
