SCALANCE W supports the configuration of external trap receivers. Only the AP acting as
the VC generates traps. The traps for AP cluster are generated with VC IP as the source IP,
if VC IP is configured. The Object Identifier (OID) of the traps is
1.3.6.1.4.1.14823.2.3.3.1.200.2.X.
You can configure SNMP traps by using the SCALANCE W UI or the CLI.
To configure a Syslog server and Syslog facility levels:
1. Navigate to
System > Show advanced options > Monitoring
2. Under
, enter a name in the
text box. It indicates the name
of the SNMP agent on the AP. The SNMPv3 agent has an engine ID that uniquely
identifies the agent in the device and is unique to that internal network.
3. Click New and update the following information:

—Enter the
of the new SNMP Trap receiver.

—Select the SNMP version—
from the drop-down list. The version
specifies the format of traps generated by the access point.

—Specify the community string for SNMPv1 and SNMPv2c
traps and a username for SNMPv3 traps.

—Enter the port to which the traps are sent. The default value is 162.

—When enabled, traps are sent as SNMP INFORM messages. It is applicable
to SNMPv3 only.
