Chapter 3 Getting Started
Installation Overview
Building Height Considerations
The ideal scenario for placement of the carriage onto the rails is:
Construct the frame.
Set the rail spacing from inside to inside at 92-1/4’’.
Load the carriage onto the rails.
This can only be done under special circumstances when the door is 12 feet wide and 11 feet high.
Note: Under this ideal scenario, there is plenty of clearance for the carriage to fit through the door.
Note: If the door is not 12 feet wide, but there is room to pull the carriage in long ways, spin it back
into the operating orientation, and then lift it onto the rails then the ideal process above can
still be followed.
If the ideal conditions above cannot be achieved, then
The rails must be separated.
The carriage must be raised up in between the rails.
Note: Higher ceilings make service and repair easier. Heaters, lights and other items need to be
placed clear of legs, head beams, and machine travel.
Vehicle Height Considerations
The maximum vehicle height recommended is 84” (7’-0”) tall.
Boom Mount Location
Note: The Boom Mount, as it ships to the site, is 72” long.
When the machine position has been determined and the final rail position has been set, then take a
measurement from the utility side wall to the closest rail.
Cut the Boom Mount 3-1/2” shorter than this measurement.
Note: If the wall is more than 75-1/2” from that rail, then an extra Freestanding Mount leg may
need to be purchased to support the Boom.
Note: Please note the Boom Mount location later in this manual and make sure no heaters, lights
etc. will interfere with its placement.
Treadle and Guide Rail Placement
The FreeStyler® ships standard with both a Treadle and a Y-Section.
Placement of these items is determined from the machine centerline and the exit legs and can only be
determined after the length and width considerations above have been finalized.
