4.8.6 Drilling Unit Positioning
The Drilling Unit is positioned by a ball circulating screw powered by servomotor; the
screw moves the working unit guiding supports and position it as per program.
Power and load are transmitted to the ball screw by a toothed belt which is connected to
the motor through a pulley.
Should the drilling unit travels beyond the programmed stroke, the limit switches, provided
on the machine frame and operated by the cams located on the drilling unit guiding
supports, will stop the positioning stroke.
4.8.7 Tool change device
The system is equipped with one tool-change system positioned on the datum line of the
machine
The tool change system consists of no.1 support suitable to accept no.6 tools.
The insertion and removal of the tool, as well as the tool choice, are made automatically
through the CNC
4.8.8 Clamp
The clamp support is fitted in the machine frame lower portion.
The top portion of the above support has the twofold purpose to support the stationary jaw
and to enable sliding of the mobile jaw.
An hydraulic cylinder is fitted at the mobile jaw side to operate the opening and closing of
the jaw itself.
The two clamp jaws are fitted with a section clamping system.
This system consists of four brackets which travel within proper grooves in the jaws and
are hydraulically actuated by four hydraulic cylinders. A set of holes is also provided to
accept additional special equipments (optional) and the section sliding and supporting rolls.
