Configuring an Alarm Entry for a Temperature Sensor
To configure the temperature sensor alarm entry:
1. At the main prompt, configure description
Temperature sensor:
config alarm-entry tempSensor description Temperature sensor
2. Configure category name envAlms:
config alarm-entry tempSensor category envAlms
3. Enable SNMP trap support:
config alarm-entry tempSensor trap enable
4. Configure the SNMP trap priority level to high:
config alarm-entry tempSensor trap priority high
5. Configure the interval at which the alarm entry sends its state information to 5
seconds when the alarm state is
critical:
config alarm-entry tempSensor nagging 5 critical
6. Configure network element name sensorUnit:
config alarm-entry tempSensor ne-name sensorUnit
In this scenario, you will:
Configure an alarm entry description
Configure a category name
Configure SNMP trap support
Configure the interval at which the alarm will send its state
Configure a network element name
Configure the alarm actions that signal when the detected temperature has
exceeded a maximum threshold, passed below a minimum threshold, or
entered into an acceptable range.
Important: This scenario does not show how to configure the analog input that is
associated with the alarm entry. For information on configuring analog
inputs, refer to command
