Configuring an Alarm Entry for a Telnet Connection that
Comes Up
To configure the Telnet connection up alarm entry:
1. At the main prompt, configure description
Telnet connection up:
config alarm-entry TelnetConnUp description Telnet connection up
2. Enable SNMP trap alarm protocol support:
config alarm-entry TelnetConnUp trap enable
3. Configure an event for alarm entry TelnetConnUp with the following settings:
Event originator telnet 192.168.0.4:6001
Event trigger conn-up
Event severity level normal
Alarm event message Telnet connection now up.
config alarm-entry TelnetConnUp event telnet 192.168.0.4:6001
conn-up normal Telnet connection now up
Tip: This same scenario can be followed to configure a connection up alarm entry for
SSH. Simply substitute SSH for Telnet.
In this scenario, you will:
Configure an alarm entry description
Configure SNMP alarm protocol support
Configure an alarm action that signals that a Telnet connection has come up.
