6.1.3 External Voice Mail
Description
The system provides support for an adjunct Voice Mail system via connection to SLT ports.
When a call arrives for the External VM Group, the system will search the group for an idle port
and deliver the call employing terminal or circular hunt based on the External VM Group
configuration. Signaling information between the system and the external VM system is
achieved via in-band DTMF signaling. The system will send DTMF signals informing the
external VM of the characteristics of the call. DTMF digit strings are assigned in the VM
Dialing Table to various functions allowing the external VM to respond appropriately to the call.
