2.16 Voice Over
Description
With Voice Over, a busy user can receive announcements from other users without interrupting
the existing conversation. The announcement is received over the existing conversation so
that only the busy station hears both incoming parties. The busy station user can alternately
talk back to both parties.
Operation
To activate a Voice-Over call,
1. While receiving busy on an intercom call, press ‘*’ to camp-on (refer to Ref. A)
2. The busy station hears camp on tone and is connected to both parties. The busy
station sends and receives voice to/from both simultaneously; the new and current
caller will not send or receive voice to/from each other.
3. Press the flashing [HOLD/SAVE] button of the busy station; the active call is placed
on hold and the busy station will be connected with the Voice-Over caller.
4. To alternate between calls, press [HOLD/SAVE] button.
Consideration
Placing a Station in DND or One-time DND disables the voice over function except that
the Attendant can override DND at other Stations.
Both calls will be dropped if the busy station hangs-up with an active Voice Over call, both
the Voice Over and active call are terminated.
If either party connected to the busy station hangs up, the remaining call is connected to
the station as in a normal talking state.
If the busy station responds to the Voice Over using the Hold button, the active call will be
placed on hold and receive MOH, if provided (refer to Ref. B). The station and Voice
Over caller are connected in a normal conversation.
The busy station user can alternate between the calls using the Hold/Save button.
The Voice Over announcement is received at the busy station over the active device,
speaker or handset.
Voice over must be enabled for both the called and calling (caller) stations. The calling
station must be allowed “Caller Voice Over” and the called (busy station) must be allowed
“Voice Over”.
