3.1 Authorization Code
Description
Authorization Codes (passwords) provide a means to control access to Walking COS, or DISA
and may be required for outgoing CO line, LCR, and Voice Mail In-box access. An
Authorization Code can be either a fixed length of five (5) digits or a variable length of 3 to 11
digits.
There are two types of Authorization Codes, Station and System. A Station Authorization
Code is specifically related to a given station and intended for a single user. The System
Authorization Codes are intended for use by any station in the system. Authorization Codes
are assigned a Day and Night COS. When users dial an Authorization Code, the system
invokes the COS assigned to Authorization Code or, if no COS is assigned, the Station COS is
invoked.
The Attendant is permitted to assign any Authorization Code including codes for another station.
Normal users may only assign the Station Authorization Codes (password) for the specific
station.
