17.3 PC Admin, On-Line
Description
LDK PC Admin is a Windows
®
application designed for real-time access to the database of an
ipLDK. PC Admin presents the ipLDK database in an efficient, easy to use Graphical User
Interface roughly following the Program codes of Digital Keyset Admin. PC Admin provides
four modes of access to the system database RS-232C serial port connection, Modem
connection, ISDN PPP and LAN connection using TCP. The RS-232C port should be
connected as outlined in the Description and Installation Manual, and can be configured in the
system database to match most terminals.
When using the modem connection for PC Admin access, the system must be equipped with
the ipLDK-60 Modem Unit (ModU) as detailed in the Description and Installation manual. The
modem automatically answers an incoming call when the configured ‘dedicated’ CO line or
‘associated’ station receives a call.
When using the system LAN interface for connection, the system IP address is required. As a
default, the ipLDK assigns the private address 192.168.1.1 to permit local PC Admin access.
Other IP addressing schemes may provide remote access.
PC Admin User and Level management tools allow controlled database access; one of 99
levels can be defined to a database of users. Each level is configured to allow/deny access to
segments of the system database. As a default, the user name is administrator and password
is 0000 with unlimited Level 1 access.
In addition to access and real-time management of the ipLDK database, PC Admin provides a
number of utilities for database storage and back-up (refer to Ref. A), software upgrades (refer
to Ref. B.) and lock key entry (refer to Ref. C).
Operations
For operations, see the PC Admin User Guide
Consideration
The system and PC must be properly configured for the type of access.
Database access is allowed to only a single user, DKT or PC Admin at a time;
simultaneous database access is not allowed.
The system may require a reset after the database or software is uploaded.
When upgrading software, do not interrupt the process. When the system returns to
normal operation changes can be made to the database, etc.
When using the Modem or LAN connection a system reset will disconnect the active
session and a new connection must be established for further PC Admin activity.
