Initial Connection
Making an initial connection includes the following functions:
• Making a Serial Connection (below)
• Making a Telnet Connection (page 141)
• Logging In (page 141)
• Accessing Online Help (page 143)
• Exiting the CLU (page 143)
• Logging Out of the CLI (page 143)
• Logging Back Into the CLI and CLU (page 143)
Making a Serial Connection
Before you begin, be sure the RJ11-to-DB9 serial data cable is connected
between the Host PC and VessRAID, and that both machines are booted and
running.

Then do the following actions:
1. Change your terminal emulation program settings to match the following
specifications:
• Bits per second: 115200
• Data bits: 8
• Parity: None
• Stop bits: 1
• Flow control: none
2. Start your PC’s terminal VT100 or ANSI emulation program.
3. Press Enter once to launch the CLI.
