Overview: About the OASYS’ hard disk recorder
•Therearesixteenaudiotracks.Theyallow16‐bit
linearPCMrecordingwithamaximumtimeof80
minutes.

berecordedforeachtrack.
•Uptosixteentrackscanbeplayedback
simultaneously,anduptofourtrackscanbe
recordedsimultaneously.

Pairfunctionletsyouassigntwotracks
asapairforrecording,control,andediting.
•Youcanchoosefromabroadrangeofinternal
busesastherecordingsource;AudioInput1–4,
S/P DIF,L/R,RECBus1–4,orIndiv1–8.Youcan
alsoroutethesignalveryflexibly,forexampleby
insertingeffectsintoexternalaudiosourcesand
recordingtheresult.
•Whenyourealtime‐record,anaudioeventand
regiondataarecreatedandassignedtothetrack.
TheregiondatacontainsalinktotheWAVEfile
(audiodata)that’srecordedontheharddisk.You
caneditinavariety
ofways,forexampleby
changingthelocationoftheaudioevent,orby
editing/replacingtheregiondataorWAVEfile.
•Autoormanualpunch‐in/outareprovided.
•TheRehearsalfunctionletsyoupracticeapunch‐
in/outwithoutactuallyrecording.
•Youcanusethecontrolsurfacemixertoadjustthe
panand
volumeetc.oftheaudiotracks,andrecord
theseoperationsasautomationeventssothatthe
panandvolumechangeswillbereproducedduring
playback.
Audio events and regions in an audio
track
Whenyourecordonanaudiotrack,theactualaudio
dataisrecordeddirectlyontheinternalharddiskasa
WAVEfile.Atthistime,a“region”isalsocreated;this
containsinformationspecifyingwhatportionofthat
WAVEfileistobeactuallyplayedback.Inaddition,an
“audio
event”whichassignsthatregioniscreated;this
specifiesthelocationinthesongatwhichtheaudio
willplay.
Whenplaybackreachesapointinthesongwhe rean
audioeventislocated,theWAVE fileontheharddisk
willbeplayedasspecifiedbytheaudioeventand
the
region.Inotherwords,theaudiowillnotplayifeither
theaudioevent,theregion,ortheWAVEfileare
missing.
Pleasenotethataudioeventsandregionscanbe
deletedbyaudioeventeditingorregionediting,
andcanalsobeeasilylostifyouturnoffthe
power
beforesavingtotheharddisk.IfonlytheWAVEfile
isleftontheharddisk,thiswilloccupyharddisk
capacityfornopurpose;werecommendthatyou
execute“DeleteUnusedWAVFiles”(SeePGp.523)
tofreeupanysuchwastedspace.
How audio data is stored on the disk
WhenyousaveSongstodisk,they’restoredinan
.SNGfile.This.SNGfilecontainsallofthedatafrom
Sequencermode,includingalloftheSongsinmemory,
exceptfortherelatedaudiofiles.
