Writing a program or combination
Theprogramandcombinationsettingsyou’veedited
inthevariouseditingpagescanbesavedtointernal
memory.Thisactionisreferredtoas“writinga
program”or“writingacombination.”Ifyouwant
yourediteddatatobepreservedafterthepoweris
turnedoff,youmustwriteit.
There
aretwowaystowriteaprogramorcombination.
Beforeyouwritedataintomemory,youmustturn
offthememoryprotectsettinginGlobalmode.

Acombinationdoesnotcontaintheactualprogram
dataforeachtimbre,butsimplyremembersthe
numberoftheprogramused
byeachtimbre.Ifyou
editaprogramthatisusedbyacombination,or
exchangeitwithadifferentprogramnumber,the
soundofthecombinationwillalsochange.
Editing using the Tone Adjust function
TherearethreetypesofToneAdjustparameters.
• Absolute:ThistypeofToneAdjustparameter
controlsasingleprogramparameter.Theprogram
parameterandtheToneAdjustparameterreflect
eachotherexactly.Ifyoueditone,theother
parameterwillreflecttheidenticalchange.This
typeofToneAdjustparameter“absolutely”
controlstheprogramparameteritself.
• Relative:ThistypeofToneAdjustparameter
controlstwoormoreprogramparameters
simultaneously.Forexample,“Filter/AmpEG
AttackTime”controlsatotalofsixprogram
parameters.Thevalueofarelativeparameter
indicatestheamountofchangethatisappliedto
thevalueof
eachprogramparameterit’saffecting.
Whenarelativeparameterisatzero(i.e.,whenits
knoborsliderisinthecenterposition),the
programparametersitcontrolswillfunction
accordingtotheiroriginalsettings.Raisingor
loweringthevalueofarelativeparameterwill
indirectlyraiseorlowerthevalue
oftheseprogram
parameters.
• Meta:ThistypeofToneAdjustparameteraffects
otherToneAdjustparameters.Itdoesnotaffect
programparametersdirectly.
Ifyou’veadjustedanabsoluteorarelativeToneAdjust
parameter,theresultofyouradjustmentwillbe
writtenasfollows.
Programmode:
•Thesettingsofrelative‐typeTone
Adjust
parametersareautomaticallyappliedtothe
programparameterswhenyouwritetheprogram.
TheToneAdjustvalueswillberesettozero.
•Thesettingsofabsolute‐typeToneAdjust
parametersarewritten“asthemselves”(i.e.,asthe
settingsofthoseToneAdjustparameters).
Combinationmode:
•Thesettingsofbothrelative‐type
andabsolute‐type
ToneAdjustparametersarewrittenandpreserved
astheToneAdjustsettingsforeachtimbre.
Using the Write menu command
1. Selectthepagemenucommand“WriteProgram”
or“WriteCombination.”
TheWriteProgram/WriteCombinationdialogboxwill
appear.
Note:Youcanalsoaccessthesamedialogboxby
holdingdowntheENTERswitchandpressingthe0
switch.(See“Shortcuts”onpage 27.)
