TAP TEMPO button
Thisbuttonletsyouentertempossimplybytapping
yourfingeronthebutton.Youcanusethis
interchangeablywiththe“TEMPOknob,”above.Two
tapsareenoughtochangethetempo;forgreater
accuracy,youcancontinuetapping,andthetempowill
beaveragedoverthemostrecent16taps.
Forexample,youcanuseTAPTEMPOtocontrolthe
KARMAtempo:
1. InProgrammodeorCombinationmode,startthe
KARMAfunctionrunning.
TurnontheKARMAON/OFFswitch,andplayakey
orapad.IfyouturnontheLATCHswitch,the
KARMAfunctionwillcontinueplayingevenafteryou
liftupyourhands.
2. LightlypresstheTAPTEMPOswitchseveral
timesatthedesiredtempo.
Noticethatthe“q=”intheupperrightoftheLCD
screenwillchangetoshowthenewtempo.
IfyoupresstheTAPTEMPOswitchatshorter
intervals,theplaybacktempowillbecome
correspondinglyfaster.

InSampling,Program,Combination,andSequencer
modes,pressingthisbuttonenterstheinitialsampling‐
readymode.Thebutton’sLEDwilllightup.
Tocontinue,presstheSAMPLINGSTART/STOP
button,asdescribedbelow.
START/STOP button
InSampling,Program,Combination,andSequencer
modes,pressingthiswhentheSAMPLINGREC
buttonislitwilldooneofthreethings,dependingon
thesettingoftheTriggerparameter(ontheSampling
modeRecording‐AudioInputpage):
•IfTriggerissettoSamplingSTARTSW,sampling
willbeginimmediately.
•If
TriggerissettoNoteOn,samplingwillbeginas
soonasyouplayanoteonthekeyboard.
•IfTriggerissettoThreshold,samplingwillbegin
assoonastheselectedaudiosourcereachesa
presetvolumelevel.
OntheSamplingmode’sP1:SampleEditpage,
pressingthisbutton
willplaytheselectedsample.
ThisbuttonisalsousedtoplaybackWAVfilesfrom
thedisk.YoucanplaybackWAVfilesinthedirectory
windowofvariousDiskmodepages,intheDiskmode
MakeAudioCDpage,intheSequencermodeaudio
trackeditingdialogboxes,and
intheSelectDirectory
menucommandoftheProgram,Combination,
Sequencer,andSamplingmodes.

ENTER + numeric keys 0–9: Menu commands
Eachpagehasasetofmenucommands,which
provideaccesstodifferentutilities,commands,and
options,dependingonthepageyou’ recurrentlyon.
Youcanusethemenucommandsentirelyfromthe
touch‐screen,bypressingthemenubuttoninthe
upperright‐handcornerofthescreenandthen
selectinganoptionfromthemenuthatappears.
Eventhougheachpagemayhaveitsownunique
menucommands,themenusarestandardizedasmuch
aspossible.Forinstance,WRITEisalmostalwaysthe
firstmenuiteminProgram,Combination,and
Sequencemodes.
Youcantakeadvantageofthisstandardizationby
usingashortcuttoaccessanyofthefirsttenmenu
items:
1. HolddowntheENTERkey.
2. Pressanumber(0‐9)onthenumerickeypadto
selectthedesiredmenucommand,startingwith0.
Forinstance,press0forthefirstmenucommand,1for
thesecond,andsoon.
Ifthe
menucommandjusttogglesanoptiononandoff
(suchasExclusiveSolo),thenyou’redone.Ifthe
commandcallsupadialogbox,thedialogwillappear
ontheLCD,andyoucanproceedjustasifyou’d
selectedthecommandfromthetouch‐screen.
ENTER + REC/WRITE: Auto Song Setup
TheAutoSongSetupfeaturecopiesthecurrent
ProgramorCombinationintoaSong,andthenputs
theOASYSinrecord‐readymode.
Ifinspirationforaphraseorsongstrikesyouwhile
you’ replaying,youcanusethisfunctiontostart
recordingimmediately.Todoso:
1. HolddowntheENTERkey
andpressthe
SEQUENCERREC/WRITEkey.
TheSetuptoRecorddialogboxwillopenandask“A r e
yousure?”
2. PressOK.
YouwillautomaticallyenterSequencermode,andwill
beintherecord‐readystate.
3. PresstheSTART/STOPkeytostartthesequencer
andbeginrecording.
