1. SelecttheP0:Play/REC–MIDITrackProgSelect/
Mixerpage(Seethediagrambelow).
2. Checkthe“RPPR”checkbox.
TheRPPRfunctionwillbeturnedon.Settheon/off
foreachsong.
3. Playthekeyboard,andpatternswillbeginplaying
accordingtotheRPPRsettings.
• Patternplaybackforakeywitha“Sync”
settingof
BeatorMeasurewillsynctotheplaybackofthe
firstpattern.Formoreinformation,see“Sync”on
page 548oftheParameterGuide.
•Ifyouareplayingthepatterninsynchronization
(when“Sync”isBeat,Measure,orSEQ),thepattern
willstartaccuratelyifyouplaythenoteslightly
earlierthanthetimingofthebeatormeasure.Even
ifyouplaythenoteslightlylaterthanthebeator
measure(butnolaterthana32ndnote),itwillbe
consideredtohavestartedatthebeatormeasure,
andthebeginningofthepatternwillbe
compressed
sothattheremainderoftheplayback
willbecorrect.
IfyouwishtotriggertheRPPRfunctionfroman
externalMIDIdevice,usetheMIDIchannelthatis
selectedfor“TrackSelect.”
4. ToturnofftheRPPRfunction,unchecktheRPPR
checkbox.
Play RPPR while a song plays back
RPPRcanbeplayedinsynchronizationwiththe
playbackofasong.
Patternplaybackforakeywitha“Sync”settingofSEQ
willsynchronizetotheplaybackofthesong.(See
“Sync”onpage 548oftheParameterGuide.)Startthe
songplayback,andthenpressthekey.Thepattern
playback
willstartinsynchronizationwiththe
measuresofthesong.
Synchronizationwillbelostifyouusethe<<REW
orFF>>switcheswhileasongisplaying.
Note:IfyouwantRPPRpatternplaybacktobeginat
themomentthatsongplaybackbegins,itisagood
ideatoinsert
anemptymeasurecontainingnomusical
databeforethesongplaybackbegins.
Note:Ifthesongisstopped,thepatternwill
synchronizetothetimingoftheKARMAfunction.
Recording an RPPR performance
YoucanrecordRPPRperformancesinreal‐time.
Ifyouareusingonlyonetrack(suchasMIDITrack01),
set“TrackSelect”tothedesiredtrack,andun‐check
MultiRec.
Ontheotherhand,evenifRPPRusesonlyonetrack,
usemulti‐trackrecordingifyouwillbe
selecting
anothertrackin“TrackSelect”andrecordingits
performanceatthesametime.
Youshouldalsoselectmulti‐trackrecordingifyou
specifiedtheRPPRdatausingmultipletracksrather
thanjustasingletrack,andwanttosimultaneously
recordtheperformanceofmultipletracks.
Note:TheRPPRpatternwillbe
recordedas
performancedataonthetracksusedbythepattern.
Inthisexample,we’llexplainhowyoucanrecordan
RPPRperformanceandakeyboardperformanceatthe
sametime.Beforeyoucontinue,usetheP0:Play/REC–

1. AssignseveralkeysstartingwithC#2topreset
patterns.
ChecktheC#2“A s s i g n ” setting,andset“Bank”to
Presetand“PatternName”tothedesiredpreset
pattern.For“TrackName,”selectMIDItrack1(T01)
towhichyouassignedadrumprogram.
2. For
eachRPPRpattern,set“Sync”toSEQ(Seethe
diagramabove).
WithasettingofSEQ,patternsplayedbytheRPPR
functionwhilethesequencerisplayingorrecording
willstartinsynchronizationwiththemeasuresof
thesequencer.
