Byoperatingthesecontrols,youcanadjustGErealtime
parametersandKARMAmoduleparameterstofreely
varythephrasesorpatternsgeneratedbytheKARMA
module.(Use“GERTP,PerfRTP”tospecify
the
parameterthateachcontrolwillaffect.)
SCENE switches
Theseswitchesletyoustorethesettingsofsliders1–8
andswitches1–8aseightdifferent“scenes”(SCENE1–
8).InCombinationorSequencermodes,scenescan
storeseparatesettingsforeachmodule,andyoucan
usetheMODULECONTROLswitchandtheScene
Matrixfunctiontocontrolthis.

Pads 1–8
Pads1–8arevelocitysensitivepadsthatrespondtothe
forcewithwhichyoustrikethem.Whenyoustrikea
pad,theassignnoteorchord(uptoeightnoteswitha
velocitysetting)willplay.Youcanusethepadsin
manyways,suchasusingthemtoplaydrum
sounds,
totriggersampledsounds,oraschordpadstotrigger
theKARMAfunction.
Inthepreloadedprogramsandcombinations,the
padsareassignedeffectivechords.Youcanusethe
CHORDASSIGNswitchtoeasilyassignyourown
chords.
Performing with KARMA
Basedonyourkeyboardplayingoronthenotedata
receivedfromMIDIIN,theKARMAfunction
automaticallygeneratesadiversevarietyofphrasesor
patterns,suchasguitarorkeyboardbackingriffs,bass
phrases,ordrumpatterns.YoucanusetheKARMA
CONTROLSslidersandtheKARMASWITCHESto
freely
modifythesephrasesorpatterns.
TheOASYScontainspreloadedprogramsand
combinationsthattakefulladvantageoftheKARMA
function,coveringawiderangeofinstruments,
playingtechniques,andmusicalgenres.Inthese
programsandcombinations,theparametersmost
usefulforcontrollingtheKARMAfunctionhavebeen
assignedtothe
KARMACONTROLSslidersand
KARMASWITCHES.
Performing with KARMA in Program
mode
InProgrammodeyoucanuseoneKARMAmoduleto
generateaphraseorpatternappropriateforthesound
oftheprogram.
Selecting a Program and switching KARMA on/off
1. PressthePROGRAMswitchtoenterProgram
mode,andselectthedesiredprogram.(See
“SelectingProgramsbybankandnumberon
page 1.)
Asyoustepthroughtheprograms,you’llfindsome
programsforwhichtheKARMAON/OFFswitch
LEDislit.
Pressakeyorapad1–8,andtheKARMAfunction
willbeginplaying.
Inotherprogramsaswell,youcanpressthe
ON/OFFswitch(LEDlit)toturntheKARMA
functionon.
Adjusting the performance tempo
1. YoucanusetheTEMPOknobor
theTAPTEMPOswitchtoadjust
theperformancetempo.
Thiswillchangetheq =”value
locatedintheupperrightofthe
display.Youcanadjustthetempo
inarangeof40.00–240.00.TheLEDlocatedabove
theTAPTEMPOswitchwillblink
atintervalsofa
quarternote( q ).
