IftheGlobalP1:MIDI–MIDIpage“MIDIClock”
parameterissettoExternal,orsettoAutoandMIDI
Clockmessagesarebeingreceived,theTempo
displaywillindicateq =”EXT,
andtheOASYSwill
besynchronizedtoanexternalMIDIdevice.Inthis
case,youwon’tbeabletochangethetempoby
operatingtheOASYS.
Checking note-on/off and key zone
Thescreenshownbelowisarealtimedisplayofthe
notedatareceivedfromthekeyboard,pads1–8,and
MIDIIN,andthenoteon/offdatageneratedbythe
KARMAmodule,togetherwiththenameofthechord
thatwasdetected.
1. AccesstheProgramP0:Play–KARMAGEpage.
Whenyouplay
thekeyboardorstrikeapad1–8,the
nameofthechorddetectedbytheKARMAmodule
willappearinthe“Chord”fieldofKARMAModule
Info.
TheCCs/Notesareashowsthekeyzoneofthe
KARMAmodule,andthestateofthecontroldata
andnoteon/offdatageneratedby
theKARMA
module.(See“Specifyingthekeyboardzoneforthe
KARMAfunction”onpage 207)
Using the KARMA controllers
Note:ThestateoftheKARMAcontrollersissaved
whenyouwritetheprogram.
KARMA function on/off: ON/OFF switch
TheKARMAfunctionwillturnon/offeachtimeyou
presstheON/OFFswitch.Ifitison,theswitchLED
willlight.Whenyouplaythekeyboardorpads1–8,
theGEselectedfortheKARMAmodulewillstart
generatingaphraseorpattern.
Using the pads: pads 1–8
Whenyoupressapad1–8,theassignedchord(upto
eightnoteswithavelocitysetting)willplay,andthe
KARMAfunctionwillstartgeneratingaphraseor
pattern.Effectivechordsarealreadyassignedforthe
preloadedprograms.Youcanplaythepadstogether
withthekeyboard.
Assigning a chord to a pad: CHORD TRIGGER
ASSIGN switch
Youcanassignachordtoeachpad1–8.Foreachpad,
youcanassignuptoeightnoteswithavelocitysetting.
Youcandothisusingeitherofthefollowingtwoways.
Method1:
1. PresstheCHORDASSIGNswitch.
TheCHORDASSIGNswitchLEDwilllight.
2. Playanoteorchord
ontheOASYS’keyboard.
Note:Ifyouwanttoinputacomplexchordthatyou’re
unabletoplayatonce,youcanholddownonenote
anduseyourotherhandtoaddtheremainingnotes
onebyone.
3. Pressoneofthepads1–8.
Thenoteorchordyouplayedinstep2willbe
assignedtothepad,andtheCHORDASSIGN
switchLEDwillgodark.
4. Pressthepadtowhichyouassignedanoteor
chord.
TheKARMAfunctionwillstartplayingaccording
tothenoteorchordyouassigned.
Method2.
1. PlayanoteorchordontheOASYS’
keyboard.
2. PresstheCHORDASSIGNswitch.
TheCHORDASSIGNswitchLEDwilllight.
3. Pressoneofthepads1–8.
