Chords and MIDI
TheChordSWandSourcePadsettings(including
selectionsviathePads)aretransmittedandreceived
viaSysEx,whichcanberecordedandplayedbackvia
internalorexternalsequencers.
InCombiandSequencermodes,therearediscrete
SysExmessagesperTimbre/TrackforbothChordSW
andSourcePad,sothat
eachTimbre/Trackcanbeset
individuallyifdesired.Notethatthisallowsmore
flexibilitythanwhenusingthelocalkeyboard’sChord
SWandPads.
WhentheChordSWorthefront‐panelPadsareused
tochangethechordstate,separatemessagesaresent
foreachaffectedTimbreorTrack,including:
•InCombimode,eachTimbreontheGlobal
Channel
•InSequencermode,eachTrackonthesameMIDI
channelastheKeyboardTrack

YoucaneditanyoftheProgramsshippedwith
OASYS,oryoucanstartwithaninitializedProgramto
createsoundsfromscratch.
Youcandomanybasiceditsdirectlyfromthefront
panelControlSurfaceknobs,switches,andsliders,
withouteverdelvingdeeperintotheLCDinterface.
Forinstance,you
canusetheknobstochangeattack
andreleasetimes,makesoundsbrighterordarker,
altereffectsdepths,modulateKARMA’sphrase
generation,andsoon.
Theknobs,sliders,andswitcheswilldodifferent
things,dependingoftheControlSurfaceCONTROL
ASSIGNsetting.ForeditingPrograms,thethree
importantCONTROLASSIGNsettings

TIMBRE/TRACK,R.TIMEKNOBS/KARMA,and

TIMBRE/TRACKletsyouadjust
thevolume,pan,andsendlevels
forOscillators1and2,alongwith
theProgramEQ.
R.TIMEKNOBS/KARMAletsyou
modulatesoundsandeffectswith
theknobs,andcontrolKARMA
withtheslidersandswitches.
TONEADJUSTgivesyouhands
‐
onaccesstomoredetailedsound
editing,usingthesliders,knobs,
andswitches.
Adjusting volume, Pan, EQ, and FX sends
InTIMBRE/TRACKmode,theControlSurfaceputs
allofthebasicmixingcontrolsunderyourfingertips.

CONTROLASSIGN.

ThispagemirrorstheControlSurface.Often,itwill
showyoualittle

assignments,exactvalues,andsoon.
3. PresstheMIXERKNOBSbuttonuntil
theINDIVIDUALPANLEDlights
up.
Thismakesknob1controlOSC1’span,
andknob2controlOSC2’span.
4. Usesliders1and2toadjustthevolumesofOSC1
andOSC2,respectively.
5. Useknobs
1and2toadjustthepanpositionsof
OSC1andOSC2.
6. PresstheMIXERKNOBSbuttonuntil
theCHANNELSTRIPLEDlightsup.
Thismakestheknobscontrolavirtual

ThisselectsOSC1.Whentheknobsarein
CHANNEL
STRIPmode,theselectedOscillatorisimportant.
WhileEQalwaysappliestobothOscillators,thePan
andEffectsSend1/2knobsaffectonlytheselected
Oscillator.
