CREATING A CLEANING PARTITION
ThefollowingsectionsdescribeusingtheBlueScalepartitionwizardto
createacleaningpartitionforyourlibrary.Ifyouknowthatyouwantto
useAutoDriveCleanwithastoragepartition,itiseasiertoconfigurethe
cleaningpartitionbeforeyouconfigurethestoragepartitions.Ifyou
choosetocreatethestoragepartitionsbeforeyoucreatethecleaning
partition,AutoDriveCleanisnotenableduntilyoumodifythestorage
partitionstoassignacleaningpartitiontothem.

Controller port
addressing
IftheroboticcontrolpathisprovidedbyaRIMorF‐QIP,decidewhatport
addressing(softaddressingorLoopID)andFibremode(Loop,Fabric,orAuto‐
negotiate)eachportonthecontrolleruses.Ifyouselectsoftaddressing,each
FibreChannelportisassignedauniqueaddresswhen
itconnectstotheFibre
Channelarbitratedloop,fabric,orSAN.Ifyoudonotusesoftaddressing,each
portusesthefixedLoopIDyouset.
Note: IfthelibraryusesF‐QIPstoprovidetheroboticcontrolpathandFibre
ChannelconnectivityforSCSIdrives,youmustseparatelyconfiguretheport
addressingfortheF‐QIPusedtoprovidetheroboticcontrolpathandforany
additionalF‐QIPsusedtoprovideconnectivityforthedrives
(seeConfigurethe
PortAddressingfortheControllersonpage208).

Fibre Channel drive

ForeachFibreChanneldrive,decidewhethertousesoftaddressingoran
assignedLoopID.Ifyouselectsoftaddressing,eachFibreChannelportis
identifiedbyanaddressassignedtothedrivewhenitconnectstotheFibre
Channelarbitratedloop,fabric,orSAN.Ifyoudonotuse
softaddressing,each
portusesthefixedLoopIDyouset.
Note: ThelibrarydoesnotsupportSCSIdrivesdirect‐attachedtoahost.All
SCSIdrivesattachthroughanF‐QIP(notaRIM)tothehost.SeeDrivevisibility

Drive visibility IfapartitionincludesSCSIdrives,decidewhetherthedrivesconnectedtoeach
F‐QIParevisible(accessible)toexternalhoststhroughoneorbothoftheF‐QIP
FibreChannelports.
