Undo the Global Spare Drive
Afteryouphysicallyreplacethefaileddrive(seeReplaceaDriveon
page492),usethefollowingstepstobeginusingthereplacementdriveand
returntheGlobalSparetothepoolofavailablesparedrives.
1. Logintothelibraryasauserwithsuperuseroradministrator
privileges.
2. UseyourstoragemanagementsoftwaretopreparetheGlobalSpare
drive.Refertoyourstoragemanagementsoftwaredocumentationfor
information.
a. StopallstoragemanagementsoftwareactivitytotheGlobalSpare
drivethatreplacedthefaileddrive.
b. Ifnecessary,useyourstoragemanagementsoftwaretoejectthe
cartridgefromthedriveandreturnittoitsslot.
c. TaketheGlobalSparedriveoffline.
3. WhentheGlobalSparedriveisemptyandoffline,select
Configuration > PartitionsonthetoolbarmenutodisplaytheShared
LibraryServicesscreen.
4. ClickGlobal Spare forthepartitionthatcontainedthefaileddriveto
displaytheGlobalSpareUsagescreen.
5. ClickUndo Sparenexttothedriveyouphysicallyreplaced.
TheBlueScalesoftwarestopssubstitutingtheGlobalSpareforthedriv e
itreplacedandreconfiguresthe replacementdrivebackintothe
partition.TheGlobalSpareisthenavailabletobeusedagain,asneeded.
6. Useyourstoragemanagementsoftwaretobringthenewlyinstalled
driveonlineandresumebackupoperations.Refertoyourstorage
managementsoftwaredocumentationforinstructions.
