TheMLMdatabasecontainstheusagehistory,health,andtheverification
dataforalloftheMLM‐enabledcartridgesinyourlibrary.Italsocontains
theDriveLifecycleManagementdataforallofthedrivesinyourlibrary
(seeMonitoringDriveHealthUsingDLMonpage323).
DecidingwhenandhowoftenyoubackuptheMLMdatabasedependson
manyfactors,includinghowoftentapesareloadedintoadrive.
Ifallofthetapesareloadedintodrivesfrequently,theMLMdatabase
canberebuiltrelativelyquickly.Thedatabasecanbebackedupless
frequently.
Ifmanyofthetapesremaininthelibrarywithoutbeingloadedintoa
driveforalongperiodoftime,oriftapesareexportedandstayoutside
ofthelibraryforalongperiodoftime,rebuildingtheMLMdatabase
cantakealongtime.BackuptheMLM
databasemorefrequently.
