UNDERSTANDING THE CARTRIDGE INVENTORY
Theinventoryisarecordofallthecartridgesstoredineachlibrary
partitionandtheircurrentlocations(forexample,inaspecificslotina
TeraPackmagazine,orinadrive).Ascartridgesareimportedintoa
partition,thebarcodereaderonthetransporterreadsthebarcodelabelson
theindividualcartridgesandthemagazines.Thelibraryusesthisbarcode
informationtomaintainitsphysicalinventory,whichisstoredintheRCM.
TheInventoryscreen,availablefromtheGeneraltoolbar,letsyouinteract
withthecartridgeinventoryinthefollowingways:
VIEWING AND DOWNLOADING THE CARTRIDGE INVENTORY
Overview TheInventoryscreenprovidesinformationaboutthecartridge
inventoryforeachofthepartitionsconfiguredinthelibrary.Italso
providesoptionsforinteractingwiththatinventorytomovecartridges
fromonelocationtoanother.
Requirements WhenusingtheInventoryscreen,keepthefollowing
requirementsinmind:
Anyuserwithoperatorprivilegeswhoisassignedtothepartitionand
alluserswithsuperuseroradministratorprivilegescanviewand
downloadthecartridgeinventory.
DownloadinganXMLfilecontainingthecurrentcartridgeinventory
forapartitionrequireseitheraremoteconnectiontothelibraryusing
theBlueScalewebinterface(RLC)oraUSBdeviceconnectedtothe
library.

cartridgeinthe
partition,
Searchforacartridgeusingeitheritsbarcodelabelinformationoritsslot

Moveacartridge
fromonelocation
toanother,
Findandselectaspecificcartridgewithinapartitionandmoveittoanother
location(see
MovingCartridgesWithinaPartitiononpage265).
Automateaseriesofmov esinastoragepartitionbyuploadingaspecially
formattedASCIItextfilethatcontainsasequenceofmovestothepartition
(see
CreateaMoveQueueFileonpage270).
