TERAPACK CARTRIDGE HANDLING
Thelibraryoptimizesspaceusagebystoringmediaonhorizontalshelves.
Thishorizontalstorageprovidesveryhighdensitybyusingspacewithin
thelibraryinsteadofthelimitedspaceprovidedbytheverticallibrary
walls.Eachhorizontalshelfisdividedintomultipleequal‐sizedmedia
storagechambers.EachchamberaccommodatesasingleTeraPack
magazine.
ThelibraryusesTeraPackmagazinestoimportandexportcartridges
throughtheTAPsandtostorecartridgesinsidethelibrary.Eachmagazine
holdsuptotenLTOcartridgesornineTS11x0technologycartridges.The
magazinehasguidesalongeachsideandgroovesonthebottomtoensure
properalignmentwhenitisinsertedintotheTAP .
StoringandhandlingcartridgesinTeraPackmagazineshelpseliminate
errorsresultingfrommishandlingindividualtapes,whichistheleading
causeoftapedamage.Wheninsidethelibrary,TeraPackmagazinesare
storedinsemi‐enclosedchambers.Whennotinthelibrary,anoptional
clearplasticdustcoversnapsontothemagazinetoprotectthecartridges.
ThecartridgesarecontinuallyprotectedbytheTeraPackmagazine,both
insideandoutsideofthelibrary.
UsingTeraPackmagazinesoffersthefollowingadvantages:
BarcodelabelingAllofthecartridgesinaTeraPackmagazine,aswell
asthemagazineitself,arebarcodelabeledforeasyidentification.
GroupedmediaThecartridgesinaTeraPackmagazinearetreatedasa
singleunitduringimportandexportoperations.Thisgroupedmedia
handlingsimplifiesmediamanagementtasksbyeliminatingtheneed
toimportorexportcartridgesonebyone.
