TROUBLESHOOTING BLUESCALE USER INTERFACE ISSUES
Thissectionprovidesinformationaboutpotentialissuesthatyoumay
experiencewhileusingthelibrary’sBlueScaleuserinterface,eitherfrom
theoperatorpanelorthroughthewebinterface(RLC).
Issue Resolution
BlueScale screens
exhibit display
problems
Occasionally,theBlueScaleinterfacemayexhibitdisplayproblems(for
example,onescreendisplaysontopofanotherortherearemultipletoolbars),
eitherintheoperatorpaneluserinterfaceorthroughthewebinterface.
Clicktherefreshdisplaybutton()onthestatusbartorefreshthescreen.
Important: If you have a keyboard connected to the LCM or if you are
accessing the library through the BlueScale web interface, do not use the
keyboard to refresh the screen (for example, by pressing F5). Doing so may
cause unpredictable results.
Cannot access the
library using the
BlueScale web
interface (RLC)
MakesurethatthelibraryisconnectedtothenetworkviaanEthernetcable
connectedtotheLCM.ForalibrarywithaSpectraLSandBlueScale12.3.0or
later,makesurethattheEthernetcableforwebaccessisconnectedtotheleft‐
mostEthernetport.Theright‐mostEthernetport
ontheLCMisadedicated
EtherLibport.(see
Figure16onpage43).
Makesurethatthewebserverportiscorrectlyconfiguredforyour
environment(see
WebServerPortonpage111).
MakesurethatanIPaddressisconfiguredforthelibrary(seeConfigure
NetworkSettingsonpage116).
IfSSLisenabledforthelibrary,makesurethatyouentertheIPaddressusing
theform:
https://[library IP address].
SeeConnectingtothelibraryremotelyusingtheBlueScalewebinterfaceon
page95foradditionalinformation.
ResettheLCMtomakesurethattheEthernetportisnothung(seeResetthe
LCMorRCMonpage369).
Cannot change a
configuration
setting
Beforeattemptingtochangeconfigurationsettings:
Recommended—Makesurethatthedrivesinthepartitionareempty.
Makesurethatthehostisnotcommunicatingwiththelibrary.
Makesurethatnobackgroundprocessesarerunning(forexample,Media
AutoDiscovery,PreScan,orPostScan).Ifabackgroundprocessisrunning,
thelibrarydisplaysamessageindicatingwhatitis.
IfthebackgroundprocessisMediaAutoDiscovery,PreScan,orPostScan
andyoucannotwaitfortheprocesstocomplete,youcanstoporpausethe
operation(
StoptheDiscoveryProcessonpage298andPausethePostScan
Processonpage307).
Forallotherbackgroundprocesses,waituntiltheprocessiscompletedand
thenretrytheconfigurationchange.
