RESETTING A DRIVE
Overview Youmayoccasionallyneedtoresetadriveaspartofafirmware
upgradeorfortroubleshooting.
User Privilege Requirements Onlyauserwithsuperuseroradministrator
privilegescanusetheBlueScalesoftwaretoresetadrive.
Perform the Reset Thefollowingstepsdescribehowtoresetadriveusing
theResetbuttonontheDrivesscreen.
1. DeterminetheBlueScaleidentifierforthedriveyouwanttoreset.
Note: Drivesareidentifiedaccordingtotheirphysicallocationinthe
library.Forexample,FR1/DBA2/DRV4referstotheupperright
driveinDBA2offrame1.SeeDriveIdentifiersonpage65for
informationaboutidentifiers.
2. Logintothelibraryasauserwithsuperuseroradministrator
privileges.
3. SelectConfiguration > DLM(orDrives)todisplaytheDrivesscreen.
4. IdentifythedrivethatneedstoberesetandclickReset.Thelibrary
powercyclesthedrive.
WhenthedrivecompletesitsPOSTandbecomesready,astatusscreen
displays,showingthatthedrivewasreset.
Note: Whenthedriveresets,thelibrarypostssystemmessagesthatthe
drivedisappearedandreappeared.
5. Thedriveisreadyforuse.
Drives can be reset using the Reset button on the Drives screen or using the Power
Drive On/Off utility. This utility should ONLY be run on a drive that is not assigned to
a partition. Do not use the advanced Power Drive on/off utility to reset a drive that
is assigned to a partition. Running this utility on a drive assigned to a partition
disables the host interface.
