Power Off the Library
Beforepoweringoffthelibrary,usethefollowingstepstoprepareforshut‐
down.
1. Useyourstoragemanagementsoftwaretostopanybackupsrunningto
thelibrary.
2. PausePostScanifitisrunning(seePausethePostScanProcesson
page307).Anytapescurrentlybeingscannedarereturnedtotheir
storagelocations.
3. Poweroffthelibraryusingoneofthemethodsdescribedinthe
followingsections.
Note: Ifyouintendtoleave thelibrarypowereddownforanextended
lengthoftime,settheACbreakerswitchesonthebackofthe
library(seeFigure92onpage158)totheoffpositionafteryou
poweroffthelibrary.
Use the Front Panel Power Button
Topoweroffthelibrary,pressandholdthefrontpanelpowerbuttonfor
approximately5seconds(thebutton’sLEDstartsflashing).Thelibrary
beginsitspower‐offsequence,whichallowstheBlueScalesoftwareand
componentstoshutdowngracefully.
Use the Soft Power Feature
TheSoftPowerfeaturedisablesthephysicalpowerbuttononthelibrary
frontpanelandenablesthesoftpowerbuttonontheGeneralStatusscreen.
UsingtheSoftPowerfeaturegivesuserswithsuperuserprivileges
exclusivecontroloverpoweringthelibraryoff;othertypesofuserscannot
poweroffthelibrary,
eitherbyusingthephysicalpowerbuttononthe
libraryfrontpanelortheSoftPowerbuttonontheGeneralStatusscreen.
Notes: TheSoftPowerfeatureisonlyavailablefromthelibrary’s
frontpaneltouchscreeninterface;itisnotavailablethrough
theBlueScalewebinterface(RLC).
WhenyouclicktheSoftPowerbutton,youmustrespondtoa
confirmationmessagebeforethelibraryispoweredoff.
TheSoftPowerfeaturemustbeenabledontheSystemSetup
screenbeforeyoucanuseit(see
EnableSoftPoweron
page113).
Thefeaturecanonlybeenabledordisabledbyasuperuser.
FollowthesestepstopoweroffthelibraryusingtheSoftPowerfeature.
