RIM and F-QIP Identifiers
RIMsandFQIPscanbeinstalledinanycontrollerbayinthemain frameor
driveexpansionframes.ThecomponentidentifierforaRIMorFQIPis
basedonitslocationrelativetotheframeandtheDBAwhereitisinstalled.
ThecomponentidentifierforaRIMorFQIPisshownas
FRx/DBAx/F-QIPn,where:
FRxisthenumberoftheframefromlefttorightwhenview edfromthe
frontofthelibrary.
DBAxisthenumberoftheDBAwheretheRIMorFQIPisinstalled(see
Figure29onpage64).Themainframeandeachdriveexpansionframe
accommodatesuptosixDBAs.
F-QIPnistheinterfacetype(FibreChannel)oftheRIMorQIPandthe
numberofthecontrollerbaywhereitisinstalled.BecauseeachDBA
containsonlyonecontrollerbay,nisalways1.
Note: ThecomponentidentifierforaRIMshowsitasanFQIP.For
example,Figure30showsthecomponentidentifierfortheRIM
installedinDBA1inFrame2(FR2/DBA1/FQIP1)onthe
Controllersscreen.Thedevicedescriptor (2GbpsFCRIM)
indicatesthatthecontroller isaRIM.
Drive Identifiers
Thefirmwareinthedrivesledthathouseseachdriveassignsanidentifier
tothedrivebasedonitslocationinthelibrary.Thisidentifierisshownin
theBlueScaleuserinterfaceandisusedintheXMLcommandinterface.
TheidentifierisalsousedtogeneratetheWorldWideName(WWN)that
thelibraryreportsforthedrive(seeWorldWideNamesforFibreChannel
Drivesonpage73).Becausetheidentifierislocationbased,itremains
constantevenifthephysicaldriveisreplacedbyanewdrive.Thenew
driveassumesthelocationbasedidentifier.
