Override a Poor Cartridge Health Report
Undercertaincircumstancesyoumayneedtooverridethehealthofan
MLM‐enabledcartridgethatisreportedaspoor(aredhealthiconappears
nexttothecartridgebarcode).Whenthecartridgehealthispoor,agreen
arrowappearsthatcanbeusedtooverridethereportedhealth.
Duringtheoverrideprocess,thelibraryprogressivelyeliminatesany
recentharderrorsfromthetapehealthcalculation.Ifthehealthisstillred,
allharderrorsareeliminatedfromthetapehealthcalculation.Thelibrary
continuestousethisadjustedtapehealthuntilthecartridgehealthreturns
toeitherGoodorAverageaspartofthenormalhealthmonitoring.
Usethefollowingstepstoresetthehealthofasinglecartridge.
1. DisplaytheMediaLifecycleReportsscreenasdescribedinGenerate
MLMReportsonpage308.
2. Locatethebarcodeofthecartridgeforwhichyouneedtoresetthe
health(see
Step7onpage312).
Mail Report to Thereportandattachesittoanemailsenttoapreviouslyconfiguredmailuser.
Usethedrop‐downlisttoselecttherecipientforthereportfile.
Note: Donotusethedefaultautosupport@spectralogic.comemailuser.Spectra
LogicdoesnotsaveemailedMLMreportfilesunlesstheyarespecifically
requestedfortroubleshooting.
Save to USB SavethereporttotheUSBdevice.
Note: TheUSBoptionisonlyavailableifyouconnectedaUSBdevicetothe
librarybeforeyouclickedSave Report on theMediaLifecycleManagement
Reportscreen.

Do not reset the cartridge health unless you believe that the reported poor health
is due to drive problems and not the cartridge or you are specifically directed to do
so by Spectra Logic Technical Support.
