Replace a Drive
Toreplaceadrivethatfailed,followtheinstructionintheSpectraT200,
T380,T680,T950,andTFinityDriveInstallationorReplacementprocedure.
Usethecableyoudisconnectedfromthefaileddrivetoconnectthenew
drivetoaswitchonthearbitratedlooporfabricwherethehoststhatuse
thedrivesreside.
Afteryoureplacethedrive,dothefollowingtoresumeoperation:
IfyouusedtheGlobalSpareoptiontotemporarilyreplacethe
malfunctioningdrive,youcannowreclaimtheGlobalSparedriveso
thatitisagainavailableforuse(seeUndotheGlobalSpareDriveon
page400).Thelibraryautomaticallyswitchesallincoming
communicationstothenewdrive.
IfyoudidnotusetheGlobalSpareoption,useyourstorage
managementsoftwaretorestartanybackupprocessesthatwere
runningtothereplaceddrive.Thisrestartensuresthatthesoftware
recognizesthedriveasworkingandavailable.

Do not click Remove. This option removes the drive from the partition. When the
replacement drive is installed, it is not assigned to the partition from which the
malfunctioning drive was removed.
If you click Remove and the selected drive is the only drive in the partition, the
partition is deleted.
