Prepare the Cartridges for Use
Usethefollowingstepstopreparetheindividualcartridgestobeloaded
intothelibrary.
1. Ifyourcartridgesareunlabeled,prepareandaffixabarcodelabelto
eachcartridge.Positioneachlabelintheindentedareaonthecartridge,
asillustratedinFigure143.SeeBarcodeLabelSpecificationson
page553fordetailedinformationaboutbarcodelabels.
2. Dependingonwhetheryouplantowrite datatoacartridgeorrestore
datafromacartridge,makesurethewrite‐protectswitchonthe
cartridgeissetforthedesiredoperation.
Note: Cleaningcartridgesdonothaveawrite‐protectswitch.
Do not place labels on any surface of the cartridge except the area shown in Figure 143.
An improperly positioned label can become dislodged and damage the drive.
Before importing cartridges into the library, allow them to acclimate to the ambient
environment for 24 hours.
If you are using Auto Drive Clean, all cleaning cartridges must be identified with
“CLN” at the beginning of the barcode sequence on their labels. This requirement
applies to both standard and custom barcode labels.
