RESETTING THE LIBRARY
Manytroubleshootingorerrorrecoveryoperationsonlyrequireresetting
theLCMasdescribedinResettheLCMorRCMonpage369.Because
resettingtheLCMdoesnotaffectcommunicationwithhosts,servers,and
software,backupscancontinuewhiletheLCMresets.
Performingsometypesoftroubleshootingoperationsorrecoveringfrom
someerrorconditionsrequireyoutoreboot(power‐cycle)theentire
library.Power‐cyclingthelibraryresetsallofthecomponentsinthelibrary.
UsethefollowingstepsifSpectraLogicTechnicalSupportinstructsyouto
reboottheentirelibrarybypower‐cyclingit.
1. Ifpossible,pausePostScanifitisrunning(seePausethePostScan
Processonpage307).Anytapescurrentlybeingscannedarereturned
totheirstoragelocations.
2. Discontinueallfilestorageoperationstothelibrary.
3. Poweroffthelibrary(seePowerOfftheLibraryonpage160).
4. Waitatleast10seconds.
5. Poweronthelibrary(seePowerOntheLibraryonpage158)andwait
whilethelibraryperformsitsinitializationprocess.
6. Ifacartridgeisleftinadriveaftertheresetiscomplete,seeResolving
OperationalIssuesonpage356forinformationaboutreturningthe
cartridgetoitsstoragelocation.

messages,youcanresetcertainlibrarycomponentsasdescribedinthis
section.SeeResettingtheLibrary,abov e,ifyouneedtoresettheentire
library.
