Maintenance Procedures
6. At midpoint of cleanout door, measure chain sag from bottom of frame flange to bottom of slat as
shown in detail view B. Measure both sides of chain to ensure chain sag is even from side to side,
+/- 1/4" (6 mm).
7. Adjust chain tension if chain sag is out of range, or if chain sags unevenly from side to side. Refer
to
"Elevator Chain - Adjust Tension/Uneven Sag", page 5-18. Contact a Weiler dealer if chain
sag remains out of range or uneven.
8. Check chain for wear. Refer to
"Chain Checklist", page 5-22. Contact a Weiler dealer if chain
shows significant wear or stretch.
Elevator Chain - Adjust Tension/Uneven Sag
1. With engine off and ignition key removed, adjust
chain until bottom of chain slat is 2" at measurement
position shown in detail view B,

Adjust both sides of chain until chain sag is even
from side to side, +/- 1/4" (6 mm).
•To tighten chain, loosen nut (1), adjust nut (2), then
tighten nut (1).
•To loosen chain, loosen nut (2), adjust nut (1), then
tighten nut (2).
2. Clean material off of cleanout door and sealing edges to allow door to close tightly.
3. Start engine. Close and latch cleanout door. Verify door is fully closed. Turn engine off.
Slipping and falling off machine can result in death or serious injury.
Adjust chain tension while standing on a securely placed ladder. Never
climb onto top of machine to access adjusters.
