Maintenance Procedures
Hydraulic System Charge Filters - Replace
Hydraulic charge filters (1) filter charge pressure fluid to
the propel, elevator, storage conveyor, and discharge
conveyor pumps. Fifth filter is mounted above pumps as
shown.
1. Remove filters.
2. Clean filter bases. Remove old seals completely.
3. Install new filters by hand. When gasket contacts
filter base, turn filter an additional 180 degrees
(1/2 turn).
New CAT fluid filters have rotation index marks
spaced at 90 degree increments. Use these marks as a guide for tightening filters.
NOTICE: Clean hydraulic fluid is very important. Do not spill contaminants into tank. Filter all
hydraulic fluid through a 5-micron filter before adding to tank.
4. Return to Step 8 of fill hydraulic tank. Refer to
"Hydraulic Fluid - Drain/Refill", page 5-32.
Hydraulic System Return Filters - Replace
1. Shift operator platform fully left to access return
filters.
2. Clean area around return filter covers (2). Remove
return filter covers (2) and two filter elements (3).
3. Inspect inside of return filter compartment. If
contamination is found, clean compartment.
4. Clean filter covers. Install new filter cover gaskets.
5. Install new return filter elements (3). Install filter
covers.
6. Return to Step 8 of
"Hydraulic Fluid - Drain/Refill",
page
5-32.
7. Check hydraulic fluid level. Maintain oil level in
middle of sight gauge.
