Hydraulic Fluid - Drain/Refill
NOTICE: Clean hydraulic fluid is very important. Do not spill contaminants into tank. Filter all
hydraulic fluid through a 5-micron filter before adding to tank.
Keep tank filled to sight gauge level. Machine must be level and in transport position. Fill cap is
located beneath access cover on operator platform floor.
1. Clean area around fill cap (1). Remove fill cap.
2. Remove drain plug (2) from bottom of hydraulic
tank. Drain fluid into a suitable container. The tank
capacity is 100 gal (375 L).
3. Install drain plug.
4. Remove tank inspection covers (3).
5. Inspect inside of tank for contamination. Clean tank
if contamination is found.
6. Clean tank inspection covers (3). Install new cover
gaskets. Install tank covers.
7. Change charge and return filters. Refer to
"Hydraulic System Return Filters - Replace", page
5-33, and "Hydraulic System Charge Filters -
Replace", page 5-33, for information on changing
filter elements.
8. Refill hydraulic tank with ISO 68 hydraulic fluid.
9. Clean and install fill cap.
10. Start and run engine for a few minutes. Check for
hydraulic leaks.
11. Turn engine off, and repair any leaks. Maintain fluid
in the middle of sight gauge (4).
12. Check hydraulic fluid level.
The fluid must be free of bubbles. If bubbles are present in the fluid, air is entering the hydraulic
system. Inspect the suction line for leaks.
