11 Click the Next Step button.
12 Edit the settings for the indenter approach to match those shown in
Figure 6-18.

The indenter begins “looking” for the surface at a distance above the
surface, as determined by the practice indentation, set by the Surface
Approach Distance. The rate at which the indenter approaches the
surface is given by the Surface Approach Velocity. The Surface Detect
Stiffness Criteria sets the criteria that the indenter uses to decide
whether it has contacted the test surface. A lower value causes more
sensitive surface detection but increases the likelihood of false detection
(and vice versa).
13 Click the Next Step button.
14 Edit the Required Inputs panel as needed. An example is as shown in
Figure 6-19 on page 6-14.
NOTE
Note that each method will have Required Inputs that are relevant to the
specific method used.
